Perspex® Desk Screens

The lack of internal walls in many modern open-plan offices mean that these work environments can become very noisy, distracting places; particularly where there are large banks of desks seating multiple employees. Installing Perspex ®desk divider screens in your workplace can aid concentration, reduce noise pollution and even prevent sickness from spreading amongst co-workers while the transparent screens allow employees to communicate effectively and light to pass through for a bright working environment.

Desk divider screens can be very useful for creating a calm space, conducive to productivity, on busy working banks of desks. Our Perspex® desk screens and clear glass acrylic dividers come in either frameless or aluminium-framed versions, which ensure wipeable, easy-to-clean surfaces. This means each desk screen can be easily sanitised on a regular basis for virus control and prevention of infection.

Transparent Perspex® desk screens are ideal for dividing large desk banks into individual desk ‘cubicles’. Communication is still an important factor for any business, and whilst see-through acrylic, glass or Perspex® desk screens provide a physical protection barrier between employees, they still allow visibility and the opportunity for effective communication.

Our range of Perspex® desk screens includes many 'off the shelf' sizes, however, our manufacturing capabilities allow us to create any bespoke screen depending on what your needs might be. Different shapes, heights, widths can be manufactured. All you need to do is give us a brief on what your layout is and what you are trying to achieve and we can design a solution for you.

The Coronavirus pandemic has fundamentally changed the way we work and will continue to do so. Perspex® desk screens are a flexible and affordable way of introducing social distancing measures within the workplace so that employees can continue with their day-to-day work in a safe environment even once COVID vaccines are available. In a direct response to UK Government and WHO guidelines, we have developed a range of Perspex® & glass social distancing desktop Sneeze Screens and Guards to help create safer workplaces to maximise employee and customer protection while promoting happier and more productive work environments.

All of our desk divider social distancing screens are manufactured in the UK and are made using high-quality materials and will provide continued functionality throughout the current pandemic and post COVID-19.

Frequently Asked Questions

Illnesses like Coronavirus (as well as seasonal flu, norovirus and common colds) are spread through respiratory droplets expelled by an infectious person (whether symptomatic or asymptomatic). These droplets can travel up to 2m in the air, which is why we are asked to remain socially distanced from one another. In working environments, Perspex screens form a transparent barrier between people, blocking the respiratory droplets from transmitting to other people. These screens can then be easily wiped down and sanitised to remove all traces of the virus.

The most important locations in which to install social distancing screens is where people come together in close proximity for long periods of time, ie. desks, offices, meeting rooms, public queues in retail spaces etc. The screens act as a barrier to prevent the spread of virus droplets from person to person.

Acrylic Perspex® is a man-made plastic that is produced in large sheets and then laser cut to the required dimensions. It is lightweight, strong and relatively inexpensive, making it our most popular choice as a base material for social distancing screens.

Safety glass or ‘tempered’ glass, is glass that has undergone an intense process of firing in high heat before being cooled rapidly to create a finished product 4-5 times stronger than normal glass.

In terms of clarity, Perspex is actually clearer than glass for effective communication, however, this increased clarity can highlight the fact that an acrylic panel is not real glass. For a more traditional look, tempered glass looks and feels more luxurious, which can also be seen in the smooth, curved corners.

In an environment where people are working together in an indoor environment, it is nearly impossible to totally prevent the spread of infectious illnesses, however, there are steps you can take to dramatically reduce the risk of virus transmission within your workforce.

Installing social distancing screens throughout your office to separate employees during the workday can make a huge difference in terms of spreading the virus through respiratory droplets.

Perspex® acrylic is a polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) acrylic which is made from methyl methacrylate monomer (MMA) and trademarked by Lucite International, now Perspex International Ltd. Produced directly from methyl methacrylate monomer, a panel of Perspex® is cast between two sheets of high-quality glass, before being polymerised in specially designed kilns and water baths in a manufacturing process first discovered by scientists in 1934, the year in which the name Perspex® was trademarked.

A ‘sneeze screen’ is a transparent Perspex acrylic or glass panel, either desk-mounted, mobile or freestanding, which is installed to help prevent the spread if infectious illnesses such as Coronavirus by forming barriers between people. These partitions trap infectious particles rather than spreading them from person-to-person. As such, they are mandated as part of social distancing measures in offices and public spaces across the UK and the rest of the world.

Coronavirus is transferred from person-to-person through tiny droplets expelled from the nose or mouth when someone sneezes, coughs or even breathes. These droplets can be transferred directly from one person to another if someone is standing very close, or they can land on surfaces that are then touched by someone else, and the virus is transmitted that way.

‘Sneeze screens’ are useful both in public environments and customer-facing businesses as well as offices and other workspaces. A smooth, Perspex®, acrylic or glass panel acts as a barrier to Coronavirus droplets in the air, allowing two people to interact more safely with a social distancing partition between them.

It’s important to remember that wiping down these panels with sanitiser or bleach products regularly is essential to provide maximum protection against germs and viruses.
